Heroes of Faith
June 27, 2024
From Pastor Eileen States
For our Summer Connect Program with the young people this summer, it was my desire to spend our time in study of different heroes of faith from the Bible. When I think of Biblical heroes of faith, my mind is drawn to characters like David, Daniel, Moses, Joshua, Esther, Gideon and even Rahab. What did these individuals do to become a hero? How did these individuals live their lives in order to be considered a hero by those of us reading about them today?
It doesn’t take much research to find out that most of these characters listed above were not perfect. Most of them have some obvious traits and actions that help us to realize that they were individuals just like us, living their lives, making day to day decisions, some good, some not so good. But God saw potential in each of them that caused Him to call them to leadership for His cause.
I see a pattern in each of these individuals in that WHEN they were called, they said “yes” to doing what God needed them to do. For some it was merely staying true to their conscience even in face of death.
We live in a time in earth's history where God needs the Daniels and the Esthers and the Gideons to step up to be the men and women of integrity that can influence and impact families, communities and even governments.
Could God count on you to be used by Him to be a hero in 2024? Are you living your life day by day as a man or woman of integrity? Do you know His voice and are you walking in a friendship with Him each day?
We live in exciting yet troubling times if you happen to be aware of all that's going on around the world, as well as right here in our own country. Stay strong in your courage that there are better days to come when Jesus returns to claim us as His own. So, as we stand on the shoulders of past heroes of faith, may those who come behind us find us steadfast in our walk.
Keep the faith!
Pastor Eileen
