Thoughts from our team...

Peace and Safety in Jesus

March 17, 2025

From Pastor Eileen

From severe flooding, to devastating fires, to horrific storms from just recent days, this country and our world is being hit from every side. Just this morning as I was getting ready for work, I was thinking of this verse shared above. I felt as if the one who built his house on the rock was the one who stayed faithful to God through the storms. As I prayed over those who lost loved ones or homes and all worldly belongings, I tried to put myself in those people’s shoes. Would I be hanging on to Jesus through the hardship, or would I become bitter and hardened towards God?

In a world full of uncertainties, where storms of life, trials, fears and anxieties constantly threaten to shake us, we long for peace and safety. Jesus, in His teaching, gives us the key to a life that is secure and unshakable. He tells us that those who hear His words and obey them are like a wise man who builds his house on the rock.

What is this rock? It is Christ Himself and His unchanging truth. When we build our lives on Him—trusting in His promises, following His teachings and surrendering our worries to Him—we establish a foundation that cannot be moved by the storms of life.

Storms will come. Hardships, disappointments and unexpected challenges are inevitable. But when our faith is rooted in Jesus, we can have peace in the midst of the storm. He is our refuge, our protector and our firm foundation. The winds may howl, the rains may pour, but our house—our life—will stand because it is built on the Rock.

Some questions to ponder with me this week. . .

Am I building my life on the solid foundation of Christ, or on the shifting sands of the world?

When storms arise, do I rely on God’s promises for peace and security?

How can I strengthen my foundation in Jesus today?

May God cover you with His wings and shelter you in the midst of the storms of life and give your peace.
