Seek God First

Greetings MAC Family!

Prior to the start of each school year at Carman, the church and school staff meet together to plan the spiritual theme for the year. Last school year everything revolved around service. This school year, our focus will be on Christ’s words in Matthew 6:33, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”

The verse reminds me of a vision that Ellen White received. Here's a link to the full vision, called "The Narrow Way". In it, she and others were on a path that became increasingly narrow - to the point that had ropes not come down from above, they would not have been able to continue forward. As they grasped the ropes, and continued pressing forward, the ropes grew in size and strength. No matter how unsafe the path, the ropes always provided what they needed. They needed only to hold onto the rope and continue forward.

They could not see to what the ropes were attached, but were told by a voice that "God holds the ropes." And there is the tie-in to our theme. It was God that was supporting them, and as Pastor Joe so wisely said, "If the only thing keeping you safe and secure is that rope, then your focus is going to only be on the rope."

Life can be trying. Seek God first, keep your focus on Him, and He'll provide what you need.
