The Why of Christmas

Why do we celebrate the birth of Jesus? For me it takes slowing down in the hustle and bustle of a season filled with events to plan, attend and perform in; gifts to purchase and give away; baking yummy treats to savor and share; decorations to put up and enjoy; and so much more - for me to actually remember the WHY of Christmas. 

Have you ever just marveled at the thought of how our magnificent, all-powerful Creator of the universe made a decision to become Immanuel (God with us). He didn’t choose to come as a conquering warrior as would be expected, He came as a vulnerable little baby. 

We celebrate His birth because it is such an astounding revelation of His love and desire to be one with His people. His heart yearns for connection with each one of us. Please take the time to pause often during this busy time of year and bask in this knowledge. You are loved. You are valued. You are priceless. This is why we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ every Christmas. I just shake my head and say “thank you”!
